WHERE ARE WE?

Mountain Manor is ideally located in lower Oranjezicht, very close to the Mount Nelson Hotel , a few minutes by car from the business district and less than one minutes walk from Gardens Shopping Centre which has cafés, bookshops, clothes stores, supermarkets and more. There are plenty of good restaurants in the immediate vicinity and the tourist centre of the City is a short 15 minute walk away, via the beautiful Company's Botanical Gardens.

The Atlantic beaches and the cable car up Table Mountain are just a short drive away.

Victoria and Alfred Waterfront -A huge selection of cafés, restaurants and retail outlets await the serious shopper. Browse through the craft markets or watch the boats go by from one of the many terraced bars, or take a boat trip around the harbour and beyond. Definitely worth a visit !

Table Mountain - For stunning 360° views of the Peninsular. A walk up the mountain, or a trip in the cable car are adventures in themselves.

Two Oceans Aquarium - In the V & A Waterfront, from sharks to shoals, catch a glimpse of the rich marine life teeming around South Africa 's coastline.

Cape of Good Hope Castle - Not just the oldest building in town, but the oldest in Southern Africa .

Robben Island Museum - Visit this beautiful island and heritage site and explore its unique history. Boat trips daily from the V&A Waterfront.

Cape Point Nature Reserve - A day trip worth making for the wonderful views, the wildlife and Cape fynbos .

Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens - World renowned for its beauty and sheer variety of the flora. Lush rolling lawns, set against a spectacular mountain backdrop, with strident guinea fowl swarming across paths meandering past quiet ponds. A true feast for the senses.

The Company Gardens - One of South Africa 's most beautiful urban parks. Take a walk to the centre of town through the Gardens and stop off to visit the Parliament buildings, National Gallery, SA Museum and Planetarium, which are all situated in and around the park.

Beaches - From Muizenberg to Llandudno, Cape Town 's coastline is blessed with an abundance of beautiful bays and beaches. Clifton is famous for its four sheltered beaches, Camps Bay for its white sand, ambience, bustling shops, bars and restaurants.

  • The Planetarium - that will introduce visitors to the wonders of the universe and the science of astronomy.
  • The National Gallery - displaying collections of South African, African, British, French, Dutch and Flemish art.
  • The South African Museum -is the oldest museum in Southern Africa . Highlights include the Whale Well, Fossils for Africa and a fine collection of San rock paintings and engravings.
  • Bertram House - an early 19 th century example of a Georgian townhouse. Of special note are the furnished period dining room, drawing room & study.
  • A little further away, on the edge of Company Gardens you will find Slave Lodge . Dating back to 1679, it is the second oldest building in Cape Town , and was originally used as a lodge for the slaves of the Dutch East India Company.
  •  The Michaelis Collection is 15 minutes away, in Greenmarket Square. The collection comprises a world renowned selection of Dutch 17 th century 'Golden Age' works of art. The collection contains works by Frans Hals, Jan Steen, Anthony van Dyck and many others.

Rust en Vreugd - 10 minutes walk down Buitenkant Street , Rust en Vreugd was built in 1778, and is generally accepted to be the finest example of 18 th century urban architecture in the country.
The house is set within a magnificent period-style garden.

Bo-Kaap Museum - In the historic Muslim Bo Kaap district, the Museum in Wale Street shows aspects of Muslim Cultural Heritage.
